BROOKLYN POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Brooklyn Police Department is dedicated to ensuring that the Town of Brooklyn remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our community—where families live, children learn, businesses grow, and neighbors come together.

We are committed to delivering the highest standard of law enforcement services through transparency, professionalism, and integrity. Our administration continually invests in the most current training, tools, and technology to ensure our officers are prepared to meet the challenges of modern policing, while remaining rooted in the core values of community trust, accountability, and respect.

The Town of Brooklyn, located in Morgan County, Indiana, is home to approximately 2,541 residents (2021 U.S. Census data). Our department operates with a team of dedicated professionals, consisting of 2 full-time sworn officers and 10 sworn reserve officers, all of whom serve with honor and an unwavering commitment to public service.

Our approach to policing is community-oriented and proactive. We believe in forging strong relationships with the residents we serve, working collaboratively to address concerns, prevent crime, and promote public safety. From routine patrol and criminal investigations to community events and school outreach, the Brooklyn Police Department remains a visible and approachable presence throughout the town.

The mission of the Brooklyn Police Department is to safeguard life and property through service rooted in professionalism, ethics, and community engagement. We strive to protect the rights of every individual, uphold the rule of law, and respond swiftly and effectively to all threats to public safety. In alignment with our broader responsibilities, we also serve as the Town’s front-line defense in matters related to Homeland Security—maintaining readiness to detect, assess, and respond to critical incidents through criminal intelligence, situational awareness, and interagency coordination.
